[802SEC] 802.11 TGv (Network Management) has met the conditional requirements to proceed to Sponsor Ballot.



Dear EC members,

I am pleased to report that 802.11v has met the conditions required to proceed to Sponsor Ballot.

The 802.11v project (Network Management) was granted conditional approval to move to Sponsor Ballot by LMSC during the July 2009 Plenary meeting.

This email contains a summary report in compliance with Clause 13 of the LMSC Operations Manual.

In the 802.11 plenary held Friday September 25th WG approval for the comments was 37/0/2 and for the EC report 38/0/1.

a) Recirculation ballot is completed.
*         Condition met: Recirculation ballot 155 completed on 07 August 2009
*

b) After resolution of the recirculation ballot is completed, the approval percentage is at least 75% and there are no new valid DISAPPROVE votes.
*         Condition met:  The approval percentage is 92.19%.   There were no new valid DISAPPROVE votes.

c) No technical changes, as determined by the WG Chair, were made as a result of the recirculation ballot.

 *   Condition met:  The comment resolutions in the last recirculation did not approve any changes to the draft.

d) No new valid DISAPPROVE comments on new issues that are not resolved to the satisfaction of the submitter from existing DISAPPROVE voters.

 *   Condition met:  There are no DISAPPROVE comments from existing DISAPPROVE voters.  One existing DISAPPROVE voter submitted and subsequently withdrew 3 submitted comments.

e) If the WG Chair determines that there is a new invalid DISAPPROVE comment or vote, the WG Chair shall promptly provide details to the Sponsor.

 *   Explanation: There are no required comments received that were determined to be invalid. There are 2 not-required comments associated with DISAPPROVE votes that were determined to be invalid. These were ruled invalid as they did not relate to draft text changed,  draft text affected by changed text or an existing unsatisfied DISAPPROVE comment from a DISAPPROVE voter.

f) The WG Chair shall immediately report the results of the ballot to the Sponsor including: the date the ballot closed, vote tally and comments associated with any remaining disapproves (valid and invalid), the WG responses and the rationale for ruling any vote invalid.

*          The ballot closed on:  August 7, 2009.

*          The vote tally is: Approve 177, Disapprove 15, Abstain 38.

The composite of all unsatisfied comments and the resolutions approved by the comment resolution committee received during working group ballot may be found in the 11-09-1057r0 report on page 5 (URL above) but are also included here.

Sponsor Ballot group formation will close on Thursday October 1. Preparations will be made to initiate a Sponsor Ballot shortly after October 1.
