[802SEC] 802.18 Items for Friday's Closing Plenary

Dear EC,

This week 802.18 has approved four documents and deferred two others to a conference call to be held on March 29th.

Those approved are::

18-11-0031-00-0000 - Update of Sub-clause 5.6 - This provides an update to Recommendation ITU-R M.1457 which deals with IMT-2000. It provides an update to that Recommendation in regards to 802.16.

18-11-0032-00-0000 - Proposed Modification to PDNR [IMT-RSPEC] - This provides input from 802.16 in regards to the ITU-R WP5D's work on IMT-Advanced.

Both of the above documents are specific to 802.16 and IMT-2000/IMT-Advanced. Based on that I propose that they be on the consent agenda.

18-11-0024-02-0000 - Contribution on WP1A PDNR on Smart Grid - This provides the initial IEEE 802 input to the Proposed Draft New Report on Smart Grid Power Management Systems. This submission is for the May/June meeting of ITU-R WP1A. It is expected that IEEE 802 will make a further contribution to the following WP1A meeting.

18-11-0035-00-0000 - Cover letter for the input to ITU-R WP1A - This is the document that will be used to transmit 18-11-0024-02 to ITU-R WP1A. It also shows that IEEE 802 plans a further contribution. That contribution will be based on the draft report that emerges from the WP1A May/June meeting.

Those deferred to the 29th March conference call are:

18-11-0033-00-0000 - Vocabulary terms related to IEEE 802.16 - This document adds terms related to 802.16 and IMT-Advanced to Recommendation M.1224. It was not possible to complete the two annexes providing the vocabulary and definitions by the end of this meeting. They will be incorporated prior to the conference call. Since this 802.16 unique document needs to be submitted to ITU-R WP5D NLT March 30th it is proposed that approval by 802.18 be sufficient. In the past 802.18 has been allowed to do that and this document certainly fits the model of non-controversial input to ITU-R WP5D.

18-11-0036-00-0000 - IEEE position on 2.4 GHz - This deals with the European rules on the use of the 2.4 GHz frequency band. It was not possible to receive further inputs from some European colleagues who did not attend our Singapore meeting. The author will provide those further inputs for the March 29th conference call.

All of these documents are available on the 802.18 Mentor web site.

Regards,

Mike
