Dear EC,

Paul has delegated the conduct of an EC electronic ballot on the following motion to me. I am announcing the possibility of an 'early close' to this ballot (see below).

For background 802.18 held a conference call on September 5th. A notification that the call would be held was sent to the RR-TAG membership on August 22nd.  During the call a response to the FCC regarding the use of the 902 - 928 MHz frequency band for a LTE based Multilateration and Location and Monitoring Service (M-LMS) was developed and approved. There was a quorum on the call and the final vote was yes 6, no 0, abstain 1. A total of nine persons participated seven of whom hold 802.18 voting rights.

The motion is:

“To approve Document 18-12-0082-02 for submittal to the US FCC per sub clause 8.2.1 of the IEEE 802 LMSC Operations Manual, providing IEEE 802’s comments regarding the operation of a LTE based Multilateration and Location and Monitoring Service (M-LMS) in the 902 – 908 MHz frequency band.

Moved by: Mike Lynch

Seconded by: Bruce Kraemer

Ballot start: September 8th, 2012

Ballot end: September 17th, 10:00 p.m. ET US

Document 18-12-0082-02 can be found on the 802.18 Mentor web site: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.18/documents/

Early close: As required in sub clause 4.1.2.2 'Electronic Balloting' of the IEEE Project 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) Operations Manual, this is notice that this ballot may close early once sufficient responses are received to clearly decide the matter.

Regards,
