[802SEC] IEEE P802.3bj draft PAR modification and updated 5 Criteria - Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 100 Gb/s Operation Over Backplanes and Copper Cables
Dear EC members,
In support of subclause 11.2 'IEEE 802 LMSC Approval' of the LMSC Operations Manual please find below the required information in respect to the PAR modification request for IEEE P802.3bj Amendment Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 100 Gb/s Operation Over Backplanes and Copper Cables for consideration at the November 2012 plenary.
Draft PAR modification and updated 5C:
Draft PAR modification <http://www.ieee802.org/3/bj/P802_3bj_PAR_modification.pdf>
Draft updated 5C <http://www.ieee802.org/3/bj/5C_0712.pdf>
 Explanatory technical background material:
This PAR modification adds Energy-efficient Ethernet support for both 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s backplane and copper cable to the scope of this project.
Work plan for the development of managed object definitions:
The project will include a protocol independent specification of managed objects with SNMP management capability to be provided in the future by an amendment to IEEE Std 802.3.1-2011 Ethernet MIBs.
Status of the development of the PAR:
The PAR modification and updated 5C were approved by the IEEE 802.3 Working Group at the July 2012 Plenary. Since the submission deadline for the December NesCom meeting (15th October) occurs prior to the date of the November IEEE 802 EC meeting, I will pre-submit this draft PAR to NesCom on the understanding that:
[a] Any changes to the draft PAR text resulting from the Plenary will be promptly communicated to the NesCom Administrator.
[b] Should the IEEE 802 Executive Committee not approve the submission, it will be removed from the NesCom agenda.
