Re: [802SEC] 'connected car' study item liaison statement from 3GPP

Adrian

Perhaps we should have a document category under the EC portion for liaisons and external communications? That is the simplest to create (takes only a few minutes, as I am sure you know).

Hello Paul,

Could I request that you provide links to these documents for use by 802 groups, either to a location on an 802 document server, or (better) by linking the document on a 3GPP server?

Perhaps there could be location on Mentor specifically for incoming liaisons.

Otherwise, my recourse will be to create an 802.11 document, add a cover page describing how this comes to be on the .11 server and upload it.

And, I guess we would repeat that action for each 802 group that has an interest.

Subject: [802SEC] 'connected car' study item liaison statement from 3GPP

Dear EC members,

During our closing EC meeting last Friday I received the attached liaison statement from 3GPP on the Study on LTE support for V2X services. It doesn't explicitly request a response, but requests the IEEE take the information into account. Please pass this along to your group if you believe there is interest in this subject. JohnD, please post this to the liaison portion of the 802 web page.

My recommendation is 802 should foster a cooperative relationship with 3GPP on this topic and provide feedback--but that is for the 802 participants to decide. Please let the EC know if you think it would be best to respond on an individual group basis or a coordinated basis across the 802 LMSC sponsor or something else. This is good topic for our 802 EC interim teleconference call--I will add it to the draft agenda.

I will also forward this to the recently formed IEEE Standard Coordinating Committee (SCC) 42 on Transportation (you may recall I've been assigned to SCC 42 as the Computer Society representative).

Regards,

--Paul
