Re: [802SEC] WG: [802SEC] 802.15.3d Liaisons

Dear EC members:

There was a question about the “TBDs” in the two liaisons from 802.18 to WP5A and WP5C, on behalf of 802.15.3d.

Working with the author of these documents and cover sheets, we have added two sentences to the cover sheets for clarification:

For some of the characteristics, we are currently not in a position to provide numbers and details, and left these as “TBDs”.  More details could be provided once the first draft of the standard is ready, which is expected in early 2017.

I have uploaded revised versions of the cover sheets as r2. As these are clarifications, we do not see the need for another vote in 802.18.

Thank you.

Hello Thomas,

Yes,  I think additional commentary on the TBDs would be helpful.  In particular,  what is the route to
resolving them.

Adrian,

Rich and Bob forwarded me your question wrt to the 805.15.3d liaisons, which I would like to answer as follows:

The two documents containing the TBDs have been send to IEEE 802 by ITU-R (already containing TBDs) .  In the documents we send back, we used tracking mode to add our input. Since we are currently developing the draft standard, we only added numbers and information we consider "safe". Some of the TBDs will be fixed at the time, when the letter ballot will start (currently planned for January 2017) , but this will be after the deadline set by the ITU (31.10.16) . It might be a good idea to add a sentence explaining this in the two accompanying letters?

Please do not hesitate to contact me, if you have further questions.

Best regards

Thomas

Hello Rich,

Both of the two technical documents contain a number of TBDs.  Please explain how these are
appropriate in a submission to the appropriate ITU-R working parties, and what actions we need to
take to resolve them.

I am forwarding to the EC for e review, and then, once EC comments are addressed, will ask for an email ballot for them.

These are in response to ITU-R liaisons, asking for details regarding the above 275 GHz band devices. As such, the markups remain to highlight the changes that 802.15 made. They were both approved by the 802.15 WG during their mid-week plenary in Warsaw.
