Dear EC Members,

At the IEEE 802.3 September 2016 interim meeting the IEEE 802.3 Working Group approved forwarding a set of modifications to the IEEE P802.3cd 50 Gb/s, 100 Gb/s, and 200 Gb/s Ethernet CSD responses to the IEEE 802 Executive Committee for approval.

The modifications to the IEEE P802.3cd CSD responses are to reflect that the project will now leverage the 100 Gb/s optical signalling currently being specified in the IEEE P802.3bs 200 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s Ethernet Task Force in addition to utilizing the 50 Gb/s optical or electrical signalling originally envisaged. This change is brought about by the additional market need for a next generation 100Gb/s 500m singlemode fibre (SMF) solution that leverage the 400 Gb/s Ethernet 500m SMF technology in development in the IEEE P802.3bs Task Force.

The draft CSD updates are available at <> and the IEEE 802.3 motion to approve forwarding them to the IEEE 802 EC for approval passed Y: 67, N: 0, A: 4.

Subclause 9.2 'IEEE 802 LMSC Approval' of the LMSC Operations Manual includes the statement that 'Sponsor approval of changes to the CSD statement after its initial approval may occur either at plenary sessions or by electronic ballot, as described in 4.1.2.'. Based on this I requested an email ballot and Paul has delegated the conduct of the EC electronic ballot on the following motion to me.

Thanks and best regards,

The IEEE 802 LMSC Executive Committee approves the modified IEEE P802.3cd CSD responses.

Move:   David Law
Second: John D'Ambrosia

Start of ballot: Friday 7th October 2016
Close of ballot: Sunday 16th October 2016, 11:59PM AOE
