Re: [802SEC] +++10 day ECM (early close)+++ FCC NOI Response

James:

The deadline is October 2, 2017, but there is a new Global Public Policy Committee review required, so Paul recommended early close

I vote NO on the submission.

While there is a mention of the IEEE 802 incumbents in the 6-7 GHz band
(i.e., UWB), this is passed over as a job for 802.19.

Any effective coexistence mechanism would need to be a normative
requirement in any new IEEE 802 wireless standard that seeks to use the
band.

If the response was fair, it would argue for increase power limits for
UWB devices in this band as well as for potential 802.11 usage.

Also, you asked for early close, but did not provide the reasoning why a
10 day ballot was not sufficient.  What, exactly, is the deadline for
this response?

I am seeking an early close (see below), as this is a somewhat urgent matter, as Paul has been instructed to run this response through the IEEE BoD Global Public Policy Committee process, which will take some time.  The deadline for filing is 02 October 2017. Paul has delegated the conduct of the EC electronic ballot to me.

Sufficient responses to clearly decide this matter will be based on the required majority for a motion under subclause 7.1.1 'Actions requiring approval by a majority vote' item (h), 'Other motions brought to the floor by members (when deemed in order by the Sponsor Chair)' of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) Policies and Procedures.
