The nature of the discussion in the Exec Committee was not on "technical issues regarding packet formats." My recollection of the Exec Committee discussion was Ken opened discussion saying it seemed to make sense to get a modification of 802.10 underway quickly (reasoning along the lines of what was in the message from Cisco). People from 802.1 said this is premature. That it was not yet clear that that would be the direction (or part of the direction). The consensus was that 802.10 should wait and give 802.1 time to settle on a direction. 802.0 is the appropriate place for a checks and balances on the coordination between groups to occur. It is a reasonable place for a chair of a group to clarify the current level of decision or consensus in his/her group and clarify a misunderstanding of same. Ideally that shouldn't need to happen to often. Pat
