Ave, Boxboro, MA 01719 Type field assignments are (currently) administered by Xerox Corp. Contact Neil Sembower (sembower@zombi.eso.mc.xerox.com) for the current list. If you plan to use a Type field for VLAN usage, this needs to be purchased from Xerox and registered. HOWEVER, please note that I have already bought a block of Type fields from Xerox for 802 usage (I am using one for Full Duplex/Flow Control in 802.3), and was fully expecting that at least one of the unused types in the block would be used by VLANs. (That is, I have your Type field already assigned!) We are in the process of transferring Type field assignment authority from Xerox to IEEE RAC as part of the Full Duplex effort. This should occur over the next few months. -- Rich Seifert Networks and Communications Consulting seifert@netcom.com 21885 Bear Creek Way (408) 395-5700 Los Gatos, CA 95030 (408) 395-1966 FAX "... specialists in Local Area Networks and Data Communications systems"
