Thank you again for the opportunity to comment your document in progress.
A query in IEC SC65C/WG15 resulted in the following comments (cumulated) regarding your liaison letter.

Regarding question A)
The word “compatible” is very generic and it would help to define specific use cases in which 
“compatibility” will be required. In particular, coexistence should be ensured and properly documented. 
The development of additional guidelines would be required to avoid confusing implementers of either 
solution.

Regarding question B)
Further technical cooperation would be required between IEEE 802.1 and IEC SC65C/WG15 in order to 
ensure that future developments of the IEEE solution will not inhibit evolution of IEC 62439-3 and 
therefore endanger investments of users of the IEC solution.

WG15 trusts that the cooperation started kindly with your letter will be continued to align the developments 
of our technologies.
