Re: [STDS-802-11-EDITORS] Update to the TGbc MDR posted - 699r7

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Editors' Reflector ---

Thanks, Carol (and TGbc) for the review.

I would like to comment on the rejection of point 2.1.19.4 [04].  My point raised here is that this MLME primitive does carry a Dialog Token, and apparently can have multiple requests outstanding at the same time.  Thus, comparison to MLME-ASSOCIATE (which does not have a Dialog Token, and can only have one interaction instance in progress at once) is not really appropriate/relevant.

NOTE: I’m not sure if such simultaneous use of MLME-EBCSCONTENT can be done to/with the same peer, simultaneously, however.  But, the inclusion of the Dialog Token seems to imply that the PeerSTAAddress is not sufficient to distinguish outstanding transactions, so presumably it is possible to have such simultaneous interactions ongoing with the same peer, and that’s my assumption in this discussion.

I would compare this primitive to others that use a Dialog Token to identify/distinguish the multiple simultaneous outstanding transactions, to the same peer (or across different peers, if my assumption about how this is intended to be used is incorrect).  It seems that either the Dialog Token is sufficient to identify the peer (and the PeerSTAAddress is not needed in the .response) or it is not sufficient (and the PeerSTAAddress is needed in the .confirm).  The function of these primitives is a matter of technical discussion, and out of scope for the MDR.  But, the MDR does include a check of mapping primitive parameters to the protocol, and noting the mis-match, the technical discussion should be followed-up with a correction of this mis-match.

Thanks.  Mark

Hello everyone,

TGbc met this morning and reviewed the MDR.  There were a couple of small changes so I uploaded an r7 to mentor.

Regards,

Carol
