[STDS-802-11-TGBB] AW: ITU-R liaison statement

Dear Tuncer,

it is probably good to comment from each affected group. Should we discuss this next week in 802.15.13?

Best regards - Volker

Dear Volker,

My plan is to provide to separate documents to 802.18, one from 802.15, another from 802.11.

In 802.15 we will do correction and additions.

In 802.11 we will provide only additions.

In 802.18 I can combine both documents.

What do you think?

Best regards,

Tuncer

Dear Nikola, Tuncer,

according to the headline, the document is directed to 802.15, not 802.11.

Actually, the embedded document ignores 802.15.13 and 802.11bb. Please, ask them to file a revision and let them add the follwing (to the embedded document)

f)           that the IEEE 802.15 has formed a Task Group TG13 in 2017 to write a new standard IEEE 802.15.13 that accommodates : Standard for Multi-Gigabit per Second Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) , with Ranges up to 200 meters , for both stationary and mobile devices, see PAR in https://mentor.ieee.org/802.15/dcn/17/15-17-0076-06-0000-multi-gigabit-owc-par.pdf

g)           that the IEEE 802.11 has formed a Task Group TGbb in 2018 to write an ammendment to the 802.11 standard that accomodates: Standard for Information Technology--Telecommunications and Information Exchange Between Systems Local and Metropolitan Area Networks--Specific Requirements - Part 11: Wireless LAN Medium Access Control (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) Specifications Amendment: Light Communications, see PAR in https://www.ieee802.org/11/PARs/P802_11bb_PAR_Detail.pdf

Moreover, I suggest to require reciprocal right for collaboration

4            that the standardization bodies involved in OWC closely cooperate with those in the traditional radio applications, and the ones involved in traditional radio applications closely cooperate with those involved in OWC, in order to improve the potential of those technologies working together;

Best regards - Volker

Hi all,

ITU-R Working Party (WP) 1A is currently developing a Recommendation containing elements to be taken into account when implementing Optical Wireless Communication (OWC).

WP 1A would like input from 802.11 to check if the referred standards are correct.

The liaison statement is available here: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.18/dcn/21/18-21-0080-00-0000-request-for-information-itu-r-wp-1a.docx

Please advise on any feedback you may have on this document. Tuncer Baykas, in CC, will be coordinating this activity for TGbb.

Kind regards,

Nikola
