Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBE] 答复: [STDS-802-11-TGBE] TGbe Teleconferences [03/22/2021 and 03/24/2021]: Agendas Posted

Hi Alice,

Thanks for your effort on resolving CID 1618. Your resolution makes sense to me now.

Two minor comments as follows.

-       I’m not against but I’m not convinced that we really need to add the text “, and Disregard if dot11EHTBaseLineFeaturesImplementedOnly equals true” for 20MHz in the Spatial Reuse 2 field.

-       I saw that in the Spatial Reuse 1 field, you have added the text “each 20 MHz subchannel of” based on SP402 but it has not been reflected in the Spatial Reuse 2 field.

Best regards,

Eunsung

Hi Eunsung, Ross, Zinan,

Appreciate your valuable comments/questions on the spec text of the SR fields in the U-SIG of EHT TB PPDU. I hope this email answers your questions. Please also check out our resolution to CID 1618 and related discussion in the latest 495r2.

After I looked into how 11ax spec drafted the sentences of interest, I found that both the text in 11ax spec and the current text in the 11be spec are ambiguous. The sentences have nothing to do with bandwidth limited operating STAs. I misread it earlier.

We got this wording of “the STA operating channel width is 20 MHz” from the description of the SR 2 field in the HE-SIG-A of an HE TB PPDU in the 11ax spec D8.0 and it is ambiguous. The original sentences and wording (as firstly introduced in 16/0902r3 (https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/16/11-16-0902-03-00ax-proposed-text-changes-for-sr-fields-in-he-trigger-based-ppdu.docx) and up to 11ax spec D1.1) is the following:

If Bandwidth is set to 20MHz, 40MHz, or 80MHz:

Spatial Reuse field for the second 20MHz sub-band (See Note 1)

When operating 20MHz, this field is set to same value as Spatial Reuse 1 field.

When operating 40MHz in 2.4GHz band, this field is set to same value as Spatial Reuse 1 field

“When operating 20 MHz” actually means if the Bandwidth is set to 20MHz. This was written in a sub-bullet because it was part of the paragraph "If Bandwidth is set to 20MHz, 40MHz, or 80MHz". “When operating 40MHz in 2.4 GHz band” actually means if the Bandwidth is set to 40MHz and the TB PPDU is transmitted in 2.4 GHz band. In such a scenario, an OBSS STA doesn't know the 40MHz channel structure of the HE TB PPDU, since it may not track the beacons of all neighboring BSSs, as discussed in 16/901r2, so it is better to set the entire 40MHz to having the same SR value.

These two sentences were revised in the comment resolution document 16/1476r21 (https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/16/11-16-1476-21-00ax-cr-for-section-25-9-spatial-reuse-operation-for-he-ppdu.docx) and 11ax spec D1.2 (and up to the latest 11ax spec draft) as the following, which made them ambiguous.

Our proposed resolution to CID 1618 in 495r2 is to improve the wording for clarity. There may be a need to revise the description of SR 2/SR 3/SR 4 fields in the HE-SIG-A of an HE TB PPDU in the 11ax spec.

Thanks,

Alice Chen

Hi Ross,

We have the same feeling about the clarity of the SR fields in the 11ax spec. We are looking into this and hopefully in the process of CR of 11be spec, we may also improve the clarity of the 11ax spec.

Thanks,

Alice

Hi Alice and all,

I have got same question as Eunsung. I understand Alice copied from 11ax. Whilst it seems unclear for 11ax spec itself.

Hi Alice,

If we consider the case where 20 MHz and 80 MHz operating STAs participate in 80 MHz TB PPDU transmission, 20 MHz operating STA has SR1=SR2 whereas 80 MHz operating STA has SR1=!SR2. Is it correct? If so, it can cause different U-SIG content in the 80 MHz TB PPDU. Im not sure why we need to set SR1=SR2 for 20 MHz operating STAs in a wider bandwidth transmission.

Best regards,

Eunsung

Hi Eunsung,

Yes. You are correct. We got the exact wording from the SR fields in HE-SIG-A in HE TB PPDU. And that was the way how it was being set back in 11ax, if we're correct.

Alice

Hi Alice,

Thanks for preparing the resolutions.

I have a question for clarification. Regarding the resolutions for CID 1618 and 2634, you added the sentences in orange into the Spatial Reuse 2 field as below. Could you clarify what the sentence If the STA operating channel width is 20 MHz or 40 MHz ~ means? That means a 20 or 40 MHz operating STA sets the Spatial Reuse 2 field to the same value as the Spatial Reuse 1 field?

Best regards,

Eunsung
