Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBE] About CID 10014

Hi Kaiying,

If you read the following cited sentence, the Disabled Link Indication is only for associated non-AP MLDs. That’s say, the current draft doesn’t consider the compatible issue with legacy STA. For instance, if the affiliated AP is operating on DFS channel and in CAC state, the legacy STA shouldn’t discover such AP via RNR element as the affiliated AP is in undiscoverable mode. While the non-AP MLD can know such indication via the Disabled Link Indication subfield in MLD parameters, but legacy STA can’t decode such information. Seems it’s a bug involved by 11be draft.

To address such issue, we propose “TBTT Information field is set to 1”, so that the legacy STA can’t discover the unavailable affiliated AP, like in CAC state, via RNR element. And such proposal doesn’t conflict with the rule you citied in the last mail.

The Disabled Link Indication subfield is set to 1 if the reported AP is operating on a link that is advertised as disabled for all associated non-AP MLDs and the reported AP is affiliated with the same AP MLD as the reporting AP, or the Co-Located AP bit of the BSS Parameters subfield of the TBTT Information field of the Neighbor AP Information field is set to 1. Otherwise, the Disabled Link Indication subfield is set to 0. Additional rules for associated and unassociated STAs when a link is advertised as disabled for all associated non-AP MLDs are defined in 35.3.

Hope the above explanation can address you concern.

Thanks

Best Regards

Jay Yang

Subject: About CID 10014

Hi Jay,

Thank you for the clarification about CID 10014 during the MAC adhoc meeting.

The Disabled Link Indication in MLD Parameters Subfield of TBTT Information field in RNR has already indicate the disabled state of the reported AP. Why would you want to introduce a duplicate way by using TBTT Information Field Type set to 1? It would cause unnecessary complexity due to different TBTT Information field Type and format when the link is enabled and disabled based on current draft as below:

In D2.1.1, it says:

If the TBTT Information Field Type subfield is 1, the TBTT Information Length subfield is set to 3, other values are reserved. (#14144)For values higher than 3, the first 3 octets of the field contain the MLD Parameters subfield (i.e., same contents as when the length of the TBTT Information field is 3) and the remaining octets are reserved.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Kaiying
