Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBF] TGbf meeting on June 28, 30, July 4, 5, 7

Oscar,

PDTs define normative text necessary to implement a feature.

While the text below is certainly clearer than before, I’d still strongly encourage you to take a different approach.  Instead of running a motion that will add ambiguity to the SFD, please participate in the comment resolution process by working with the SBP TTT on comments related to SBP setup.  Reach out to volunteers assigned to resolve comments in this area (you can find comment assignments here) and please work with them in writing normative text necessary to implement the feature below (that has been supported by the group).

Thanks,

Claudio

Thanks for the comment, Claudio. Would the following be sufficient as PDT? Is it clear enough?

Move to add the following to the TGbf SFD:

“The SBP initiator shall be able to request the SBP responder to restrict the sensing procedure in the SBP to a list of selected non-AP STAs as sensing responders. Each selected non-AP STA shall be specified in terms of its MAC address. When requested, the SBP responder shall not include any non-selected non-AP STAs as sensing responders in the sensing procedure in the SBP.”

Note: SBP initiator can include itself as one of the sensing responders.

Thanks,
Oscar

Oscar,

I’m afraid the meaning of “…request the SBP responder (AP) to, and the SBP responder shall, restrict the…is not clear to me.

It seems like your intent is to define two different behaviors:  One for the SBP initiator and another for the SBP responder.  If this is the case, it is better to break the sentence into two.

More importantly, I’d strongly encourage you to work on a PDT.  A PDT has the potential to eliminate the ambiguities in your text.

Tony,

Please kindly use this wording instead:

Move to add the following to the TGbf SFD:

“The SBP initiator shall be able to request the SBP responder (AP) to, and the SBP responder shall, restrict the sensing procedure in an SBP to a list of selected non-AP STAs as sensing responders. Each selected non-AP STA shall be specified in terms of its MAC address.”

Note: SBP initiator can include itself as one of the sensing responders.

Thanks,

Oscar

Please kindly add the following motion to the motion queue when we do motion next time:

This is based on SP2 of 0670r1 which was unanimously passed on May 9.

I would like to thank Ali for his help in wording the motion.

Thanks,
Oscar
