Do you agree that TGbh should consider a mechanism to assist the AP to identify an associated non-AP STA when the non-AP STA uses different MAC addresses for different associations. This identity is in MAC layer, and should be secure, and does not expose a privacy concern for the non-AP STA.
I presented 11-21/1247 MAC features impacted by RCM in last meeting 08/10/2021.There are still questions to be addressed per the SP text . I made some changes as below. As required by the group, would you please raise any further questions here or offline to me? I'll use this thread or offline one as needed.
The modified SP text:
- Do you agree that TGbh should consider a mechanism to assist the AP to identify the non-AP STA when the STA uses a randomized MAC address or changes its MAC address, while not exposing any new user privacy concern.
- The scope is limited to the re-association and/or FT phase.
Thank you, Chaoming. I have added it to the Aug 10 teleconference agenda: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/21/11-21-1295-03-00bh-agenda-tgbh-2021-august-10.pptx
Could you please kindly add the doc 11-21/1247r0 to the TGbh agenda?
Slight update. I have tried to clean up our Tracking Document a bit: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/21/11-21-0332-13-00bh-issues-tracking.docx.
I accepted all the track changes in section 4, and did some editorial clean up. I also added proposed summary statements for TGbh next steps (or lack of further consideration) for some of the use cases, and tried to identify where we have off-line action needed to progress others. This is not complete, but I think it’s a good start, and a review by the task group would be helpful to be sure we are in agreement on our status and next steps.
This is a reminder of the 802.11 TGbh teleconference on Tuesday, Aug 10, 09:00 ET. The topic is continuing our discussion based on the tracking sheet. The agenda can be found here: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/21/11-21-1295-01-00bh-agenda-tgbh-2021-august-10.pptx
