I would like to suggest a simple TXOP initiation rule for the P-EDCA operation.
Regarding CID 7182, the comment suggests using MU-RTS TF when AP performs UL MU operation after completion of P-EDCA contention.

Mandating that the initial frame of a P-EDCA TXOP must be an RTS is inefficient for multi-user (MU) transmissions and increases latency. This rule forces an unnecessary RTS and CTS frame exchange before performing any MU operation, which creates significant overhead, especially for UL MU transmissions that require a subsequent Trigger frame.

To improve P-EDCA efficiency for MU transmissions, the initial frame should not be restricted to RTS. Allowing other frame types, such as a Trigger frame or a DL MU PPDU, would eliminate this overhead and directly support both UL and DL MU transmissions.
Current text:
A P-EDCA STA that initiates a TXOP (see 10.23.2.4) during a P-EDCA contention shall transmit an RTS frame as initial frame in the TXOP.

Proposed change:
A P-EDCA STA that initiates a TXOP (see 10.23.2.4) during a P-EDCA contention shall transmit an RTS frame as initial frame in the TXOP. A P-EDCA AP STA that initiates a TXOP (see 10.23.2.4) during a P-EDCA contention may transmit an MU-RTS frame or Trigger frame in case of multi user transmission.

I think MU-RTS TF / CTS sequence will provide equal protection robustness compared to RTS/CTS sequence, and because the baseline allows AP to use MU-RTS TF/CTS sequence replacing RTS/CTS, there will be no problem for P-EDCA operation if MU-RTS TF / CTS sequence is allowed.

Therefore, I would like to modify the text as follows:

A P-EDCA STA that initiates a TXOP (see 10.23.2.4) during a P-EDCA contention shall transmit an RTS frame or MU-RTS Trigger frame as [#7661]the initial frame in the TXOP[#4820 5407 5795 6525 7105 7182 8403 8651 10209 10210], except when an ICF is required to be transmitted to a target STA:

I see your point on NPCA. My follow-up question is that should we address the coexistence issue between P-EDCA and DSO mode in this CR document?

Thank you for your question.
The uploaded document address comments mainly about this statement:
 
“P-EDCA STA that initiates a TXOP (see 10.23.2.4) during a P-EDCA contention shall transmit an RTS frame as initial frame in the TXOP.”
 
I guess your question is broader – would we want to allow or disallow P-EDCA and _other_ modes to work together.
Regarding DUO, DPS and EMLSR – I don’t see why not (on my proposed resolutions suggest that)
As for the NPCA – there is large number of comments specifically about NPCA+P-EDCA working together (assigned to Salvatore), I believe this issues will be addressed there.

Thanks for this CR document which is resolving the coexistence issue between P-EDCA and other modes.
 
My question is why the coexistence issue with NPCA mode or DSO mode is not mentioned in the text of this CR?
