Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] LB291 CR for NPCA Initial Channel Access

Hi Rony and all,
I’m Juseong Moon from KNUT.

For CID 7141 and other related comments (I think 6501, 8398, 8439, 10246 are similar), I have some additional opinions regarding my discussion of yesterday’s presentation.
The current NPCA text of 11bn draft— 5) A first STA shall not initiate a transmission on the NPCA primary channel to a second STA until the second STA’s NPCA switching delay time has elapsed since the NPCA HE switch time at the first STA if the first STA is switching due to condition 1) above or since the NPCA NHT switch time at the first STA if the first STA is switching due to condition 2) above.— is very unclear. CID 7141 is pointing out that ambiguity.

37.18.4

In subclause 37.18.4, item 5), a rule states that an NPCA STA with a shorter NPCA switching delay shall not transmit to a peer STA with a longer switching delay until that longer switch is complete.

However, the required operation of the waiting STA's EDCAF during this period is not defined. It is unclear what the EDCAF should do with its backoff counter. For instance, if the backoff counter had already reached 0, should it remain at 0, or should the EDCAF perform a new backoff? This channel access behavior needs to be clarified to ensure predictable operation.

As in comment.

Revised

Agree with the comment.

As part of resolution for CID 8002, EDCAF operations during NPCA operation were define in 10.23.2.4 (Obtaining an EDCA TXOP) and the mentioned rule in subclause 37.18.4, item 5) was deleted. A new paragraph was added at beginning of paragraph of subclause 37.18.4 to clarify the EDCAF operations following the switch to the NPCA primary channel.

TGbn editor: please implement changes as shown in doc 11-25/2196r0 tagged as 7141.

While I recognize the motivation of the CR document—to clarify the EDCA operation when considering a peer NPCA STA’s switching delay— I indeed do not agree with the specific approach proposed in the CR as I mentioned in the yesterday session.
In particular, I do not support modifying the existing EDCA slot boundary definition or introducing a new NPCA guard time mechanism. Nevertheless, I believe that the underlying issue raised by this CR is valid, as the current draft does not clearly define how an EDCAF should operate with respect to a peer STA’s NPCA switching delay. Therefore, I think it is important to further clarify this operation in the draft, potentially by modifying the current draft in a way that does not require changes to EDCA slot boundaries or the addition of a new guard time. As I stated in CID 7141, I prefer either maintaining the EDCAF backoff counter at zero or invoking a new backoff procedure for the EDCAF. Considering CID 8440, it may be more appropriate to have the EDCAF invoke a new backoff procedure to avoid potential collision problems.

Thank you.

Dear NPCA TTT members,

I have uploaded the following NPCA CRD that addresses the initial channel access on the NPCA primary channel.
Please review and let me know if you have any feedback.
