Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] [EXT] [STDS-802-11-TGBN] Posted: Preliminary TGbn MAC January Ad-hoc agenda

Hi Morteza,

In your example of bandwidth expansion from 160 to 320MHz, I was referring to the case of 80MHz DSO non-APs only which had DSO subband = secondary 80.  Reassignment can be relevant for only those 80MHz STAs, right? There is no meaning of reassignment of DSO subband to 160MHz or 320MHz STAs in this example.

So, my question is how the reassignment of 80Hz STAs can be facilitated. DSO allows utilization of full 320MHz with just 80MHz non-APs and should not be dependent on the presence of 160/320MHz non-APs. That was also the motivation for having DSO and DBE operate together.

Sindhu

Hi Sindhu,

When there is a DBE BW change to larger or smaller BWs, there will be other full BW STAs (non-DSO) or certain other STAs would be capable of doing DSO, so the expanded portion can be used by AP for other STAs.
E.g. if AP BSS BW is 160 MHz and expands to 320 MHz DBE BW, there could be 80 MHz STAs, 160 MHz STA and 320 MHz STAs; in this case, only 80MHz STAs (if they are DSO) would maintain their DSO subband (S80), 160 MHz STA would be DSO STA that needs to enable DSO, and 320 MHz STA operates on the full 320 MHz BW.

Thanks,
Morteza

Hi Morteza,

I have a comment regarding the following resolution:

(#6437, 6713, 10570, 9984, 9983)If a DSO AP changes its BSS bandwidth while preserving the primary 20 MHz or changes its DBE bandwidth in DBE mode, and the DSO non-AP STA’s DSO subband is maintained within the AP’s BSS bandwidth or DBE bandwidth after the bandwidth change, DSO mode remains enabled; in all other cases, DSO mode is considered disabled for that DSO non-AP STA.

Let’s say that the AP expands its BSS bandwidth as DBE bandwidth. In this case,  each DSO non-AP’s DSO subband will automatically stay within the BSS bandwidth or DBE bandwidth after the bandwidth change and so, per your resolution, DSO will stay enabled for all DSO non-APs. What is the way for the AP then to allocate some DSO non-AP’s to the expanded portion of the bandwidth? Currently, there is no other way than for the AP to remove DSO support and add it back which will then make each non-AP re-enable DSO.  This is because now, the reassignment of DSO subband can be initiated only by a non-AP

Sindhu

Hello all,

I hope you all had a great holiday.

I uploaded the preliminary agenda for the TGbn MAC Ad-Hoc meeting here,  which is scheduled between Jan 7 to Jan 9, 2026.

The document also contains the most recent queues for MAC/PHY and Joint.

Please review and let me know if I have missed anything and also please ensure that the CR documents are uploaded at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting slot. Also, if you cannot attend on certain meeting slots that your presentation is scheduled please let me know in advance and I can try to account for those requests whenever possible.

Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions.

Happy New Year!

Regards,

Alfred
