Thanks for your two rounds of comments on the subclause 12.17.2!

 

My intention is to address PMK generation in 12.17.2, then address authentication and PTK derivation using PMK in 12.17.3. It seems your comments are based on the assumption that 12.17.2 addresses PTK derivation from PMK. I will change the next subclause 12.17.3’s title into “authentication, PTK derivation, and secure data exchange” to avoid the confusion. Could you kindly re-organize your review comments based on the topics of these two subclauses? In addition, I already submitted 11-26/1552r1 for subclause 12.17.2 (PMK generation). Please download the latest revision and add your comments, so that I can better track your comments.

Hello Hui, 

After more discussion with colleagues, it appears that the key derived during the handshake is more a PTK than a PMK, given the liveness introduced by the nonces, and particularly because in AMP the PMK is the PSK. The changes in the attached document reflect this train of thought.
