Subject: [802SEC] request for questions from 802 participants on the Patent Policy Update tutorial

Dear EC members,

At the upcoming July plenary session, David Law is sponsoring “IEEE-SA
2015 Patent Policy Update” tutorial* in the 2nd slot (7:30-9:00 PM) on Monday, 13 July. The tutorial presenters wish to have advance input from the 802 community regarding specific questions on the subject matter, so as to tune the tutorial to be as responsive as possible to 802’s needs.

To that end, please forward this “request for questions” to your groups.
Please have them forward the questions directly to the IEEE-SA Patent Committee Administrator, David Ringle (d.ringle@xxxxxxxx) by 12:00pm EDT on 22 June 2015. He will collect and organize the questions, and the tutorial presenters will try to address these questions during the tutorial time-slot. Pre-submitted questions will be given priority.
Please note that the purpose of the tutorial is to explain the updated policy, not to debate its merits.

Regards,

--Paul

*Abstract: Updates to the IEEE-SA Patent Policy (Clause 6 of the IEEE-SA Standards Board Bylaws) became effective on 15 March 2015. While the text relating directly to conduct and responsibilities of participants within IEEE standards development groups has not been updated, this tutorial will provide an overview of the areas that were updated.
