Re: [STDS-802-11] Liaison statement from 3GPP RAN1 to 802

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

G’day Adrian

The LS from 3GPP RAN1 is in response to two separate LS’s from IEEE 802

·         Issues 1-12 are in response to a LS prepared by IEEE 802.19 WG back in July 2016

·         Issues 13-14 are in response to a LS prepared by the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc in November 2016

I believe there is a good case to be made to ask the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc to consider the 3GPP RAN1 response for all issues because:

·         They are mostly related to IEEE 802.11 coexistence with LAA/eLAA (and possibly MulteFire too)

·         Some of issues 1-12 are interrelated with issues 13-14

However, others might make the case they all belong in IEEE 802.19 WG because that group is concerned with coexistence issues. The counter to this argument is that the vast majority of the participants in previous discussions on these issues are actually IEEE 802.11 WG members anyway.

I would be delighted if the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc is  given responsibility for developing a response (if one is required), but I suspect that you will need to work with Paul and Steve to determine if the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc is  given that responsibility.

Andrew

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear 802.11 members,

For information...

IEEE 802 has received a liaison statement from 3GPP RAN1 here,
http://ieee802.org/Communications/16_11/R1-1613770.zip

This document appears to be directed to 802.11,   so I believe we should give the document proper consideration.
I expect this to appear somewhere on the January agenda.
Andrew Myles will advise as to whether PDED will handle this.

Best Regards,

IEEE 802 received the attached liaison statement from 3GPP RAN1 "Response LS to IEEE 802.11 regarding LAA" responding to the liaison statements we recently sent to 3GPP RAN1.  Please review and circulate to your groups as appropriate.

JohnD, please post this to the 802 Liaison web page.

Regards,
