Re: [STDS-802-11] AMP editorial comments on 22/1562

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Hi David,

Thanks for the further comment. Maybe I can jump in here. What Weijie means is that the station of the prototype is only a transmitter, i.e., a signal generator, but cannot receive backscattered signal from the tag, i.e., AMP IoT Device. In the future, the station can contain both transmitter and receiver. I agree with you that if the backscattered signal goes back to the same transmitter, e.g., station a --> tag --> station a, the achieved distance is the minimum of energy harvesting distance and communication distance. However, this restriction is not necessary. Even though a station contains a receiver, it may not necessarily receive backscattered signal transmitted by itself, instead it can receive backscattered signal from a different transmitter, e.g., station a --> tag --> station b.

Best regards,

Yinan

Hi  Weijie,

Thank you for the response. I have a further question on Figure 4.5-1, based on your response.

This is a prototype, in the future, the AP can provide the functionalities which here the station and the Receiver can provide,

This has me confused. The picture shows the station and receiver on opposite sides of the tag. So would the AP have two physical components? Or would the AP contain both components in the same device?
If the AP contains both the station and the receiver, doesn't this change the distance that can be achieved?

Hi, David,

Thanks very much for your careful check and good suggestions.

All the suggestion would be captured in the next revision (we will go through it on 13th CC).

Also, please see my response below for each comment.

主题: AMP editorial comments on 22/1562

Hi Weijie,

The following are just some editorial comments on 22/1562.

- Replace "walt" with "watt"

[weijie]  Captured, Thanks.

- Figure 4.3-2 is referenced as Figure 4.4-2 in text. Suggest change reference to indicate 4.3-2

[weijie] Captured, Thanks.

- This one is my biggest request.  Figure 4.5-1 indicates "Station", "Tag" and "Receiver". The terms lack context. There's a note that indicates to be updated.

Which device is the "AMP only IoT device"? Can the text be changed to "AMP only IoT device"?

Which device could be an AP? Can the text be changed to "i.e. Access Point"?

Should come up with a term for the 3rd device. Maybe Backscatter energy source. Or backscatter energizer? Let me know if you are already using a backscatter term.

[weijie]: I will give some explanation in the text. Tag is the AMP device. Here, Station is the Node to provide the RF power and the incident carrier. Receiver is the node to receiver to receive the backscattering signal. This is a prototype, in the future, the AP can provide the functionalities which here the station and the Receiver can provide,

Section 5 spelling

replace "batter-free" with "battery-free"

[weijie]:Captured, Thanks.

Section 5
Not sure what was intended with the text below. Maybe an editorial issue?

The combination of communication network and sensing technology applied in the power grid will develop towards the deep integration of sensing and communication integrated with sensing and sensing.

[weijie]:  It was a type, “integrated with sensing and sensing”shall be removed.  The sentences is to say: deep integration of sensing and communication is a trend for IoT applications in smart grid. AMP can be a useful tool for the deep integration of sensing and communication.

Section 5

replace "WALN" with "WLAN"

[weijie] : Captured, Thanks.
