On 16 May 2025, the following draft rule - entitled Draft Use of Low Power and Very Low Power Wireless Access System including Radio Local Area Network in Lower 6 GHz band (Exemption from Licensing Requirement) Rules, 2025 - is posted on the Gazette of India:

As referred to in the draft rules, it proposes to allow the use of Low Power and Very Low Power Wireless Access System including Radio Local Area Network in the 5925 MHz to 6425 MHz band.

Note that there is a 30-day period for any affected party to provide feedback to the Joint Secretary (Telecom), Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India
