Re: [STDS-802-11] [802.11 UCM TIG} Teleconferences between September and November, Call for Contributions

Hi Volker,

In preparation of the UCM call and the continued Q&A on contribution 11-25/1627r0, here are some questions ahead of time:

  1. Current simulation approaches typically involve storing a large set of reference channels and picking a different one for every iteration (e.g., each transmission) and then averaging the results to achieve a PER that is representative for e.g. Channel Model D.
    1. Is that approach still feasible with the new direction for developing channel models?
    2. Or is some amount of real-time calculation required for every iteration in the simulation?
  2. Current simulations are typically run as a function of SNR. The SNR is varied by adjusting the large-scale path loss. If the models now represent an actual physical environment, changing the path loss may not be realistic thing to do. How can we reproduce the existing simulation approach?
  3. Can you elaborate on the time-changing behavior of the channel models. What is included and how much calculation is required to capture a realistic time behavior (e.g., moving STA, channel aging, …)?

Regards,

Sigurd

Dear all,

between now and November, the Unified Channel Model Technical Interest Group (UCM TIG) will be holding three teleconferences on the following Wednesdays

Oct. 8, 10-11 a.m. ET,  Meeting link: https://ieeesa.webex.com/ieeesa/j.php?MTID=m08e279ebc451c63768ec899c7d8cb44d

Oct. 22, 10-11 a.m. ET,  Meeting link: https://ieeesa.webex.com/ieeesa/j.php?MTID=m0ec7b3affb2b688033a84e27c9b44a27

Nov. 4, 10-11 a.m. ET,  Meeting link: https://ieeesa.webex.com/ieeesa/j.php?MTID=m8c02bd1837d816b98d98a7ec505d88cc

Everyone is welcome to attend.

On Oct. 8, we will continue Q&A on Stephans contribution 11-25/1627r0 which had to be stopped due to time constraints, and continue with further presentations in the backlog, see slide 28 in 11-25/1601r4.

Moreover, this is an open Call for Contributions for the UCM TIG.

If you have any contribution, please, upload it onto the Mentor into the UCM TIG folder https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/documents?is_dcn=DCN%2C%20Title%2C%20Author%20or%20Affiliation&is_group=0ucm and send me an email for putting it onto the agenda. If there is any issue, please contact me. I am happy to assist you.

Best regards - Volker
