Dear 802.18 participants,
cc. 802.11, 802.15, 802.19 participants,
On 13 October 2025, France's administration, Arcep, launched a consultation that seeks public opinions on "
Issues relating to future allocations of mobile frequencies in mainland France".
In short, the consultation covers operation of land-based mobile networks open to the public in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands whose bands have expiry dates ranging from 2030 to 2035 . The consultation also covers new frequency bands, in particular the 3410 MHz to 3490 MHz, 1.4 GHz and 6 GHz bands, could be allocated for the operation of mobile networks in the short or medium term.
For the upper 6 GHz band, the following 4 questions may be of possible interest to us:
Question 2: What comments do you have regarding the status of other frequency bands that may be subject to an allocation procedure for mobile networks ?
Question 37: How do you assess the relevance of the 6 GHz high band in light of anticipated capacity needs for mobile
networks? If so, how much spectrum do you think is necessary to meet these needs and by when?
Question 38: How do you assess the level of maturity of the 6 GHz high-band equipment and terminal ecosystem?
Question 39: What deployment issues do you identify regarding the 6 GHz band? Do you identify any specific constraints related to the use of this band, for example relating to
site engineering (media footprint, energy consumption, etc.)?
For details, please visit:

If you would like IEEE 802 LMSC to submit a response, please bring a contribution to IEEE 802.18 to review and consider approval no later than the opening meeting, Tuesday, 11 November 2025, in the November 2025 plenary.
Regards,
Edward
