I was pressured to open the registration for the 2026 May IEEE 802W Interim as soon as possible.
People want to get started on VISA requests and planning done.
I understand that desire.
The 802.11 WG approved a TGbn AdHoc the week prior.
In order to include the Registration and expenses for the TGbn AdHoc in the 802.11/.15 Joint treasury, I needed a motion (which was completed this afternoon 802WCSC Telecon).
In the meantime, the meeting planners have been working with the hotel and we have not got a final agreement in place.
We believe we have a good faith agreement, but until I get the contract completely executed, we don't have an approved agreement.
Now, I could have delayed the registration opening...many would complain.
I could open it early, but the hotel space for the TGbn AdHoc days is not included yet....many of you have complained.
As I have always stated, when you are registering and making reservations, make a reservation as close as possible to what you want, and then work with the hotel or meeting planner to extend the reservation if we are able to find more availability.
If everyone makes a reservation for the AdHoc days at the regular hotel rate, I may not be able to get the hotel to negotiate a reduced rate if the rooms are sold out at the normal rate.
I know that the hotel has rooms at two different rates. so some will need to make reservations at the different rates.
We also have many of you that have not been able to use the hotel webeite.
When you get to the initial page, it may say that there are no rooms.
They you change the dates, then please select the desired dates and click update
Many just change the dates, but don't "click the update" button.
Make a reservation for the Interim to get a reservation code for your registration discount.
