Overview

The end work product of the IEEE 802.15.10 Task Group on Layer 2 Routing (L2R) is the generation of a recommended practice for routing packets in dynamically changing 802.15.4 wireless networks.

Current Status

TG10 is currently preparing the combined Technical Guidance, System Requirements, and Selection Criteria document as part of the groundwork leading to the call for preliminary proposals.

Future Efforts

At the March 2014 Session in Beijing TG10 will work to finalize the combined Technical Guidance, System Requirements, and Selection Criteria document by the end of the meeting. Also to be worked on during this meeting is the Call for Preliminary Proposals, which is intended to be issued after the March meeting.

TG10 Timeline

The first meeting of L2R as an Interest Group occurred at the July 2012 Plenary session in San Diego.

The first meeting of L2R as a Study Group occurred at the January 2013 Interim Session in Vancouver. At the May 2013 Interim Session in Waikoloa the draft PAR and 5C were approved by the 802.15 WG. At the July 2013 Plenary Session in Geneva the PAR and 5C generated by the L2R Study Group were approved by the 802 EC.

Interest and active participation during the Interest Group and Study Group phases of the L2R activity was consistent, with an average of 20 attendees, representing more than 15 different entities on average at each of the 7 sessions.

The first meeting of 802.15.10 as a Task Group occurred at the September 2013 Interim Session in Nanjing. In this meeting, a draft use cases/requirements document was generated as well as a preliminary timeline and a request for inputs/presentation from 802.1 during the Joint Session in the November 2013 meeting.

How to participate

You can participate by attending and making contributions to the 802.15.10 TG during the weekly calls and at the upcoming March 2014 Session in Beijing.
