Overview
The IEEE 802.15 High Rate Alternative PHY Task Group (TG3a) for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) is working to define a project to provide a higher speed PHY enhancement amendment to 802.15.3 for applications which involve imaging and multimedia.
Current Status
July04 meeting: Coming into this meeting, two PHY proposals (merged proposal 1, merged proposal 2) were once again under consideration as a result of a process "reset" that occurred in May, according to the down-selection procedure, where the remaining merged proposal 1 did not reach 75% confirmation during its second confirmation vote attempt.
An elimination vote selected merged proposal 2, which did not reach 75% level at confirmation vote. Confirmation "no" vote comments were heard, followed by several contribution presentations.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Sep04 interim meeting, the down-selection procedure will resume with a response by the authors of merged proposal 2 to confirmation "no" votes, followed by a second attempt at confirmation.
