Overview

In March 2015 the Task Group 3e (TG3e) was formed with the objective of developing an amendment to IEEE802.15.3 that defines a High-Rate Close Proximity (HRCP) system enabling large files to be exchanged rapidly between two devices at very close range. Applications include fast transfer of content for digital kiosks and ticket gates, as well as instant sharing of files between two devices. Main features of the HRCP system consist of quick link setup, quick release and point-to-point (P2P) connection, making possible human "touch and get" schemes for the instantaneous transfer of large amounts of data.
