I'd like to bring to your attention the "IEEE-USA Workshop on U.S. National Policy for Accelerating Broadband Deployment" (17-18 June 2002 in Washington, DC): http://www.ieeeusa.org/conferences/broadband This agenda includes discussion and development of a report that has the potential to be influential. A number of technical areas are under consideration, including "Two-Way Wireless," to be presented by Ferdo Ivanek. However, the program seems to be slanted, in advance, in favor of a particular technology: Gigabit Ethernet over Fiber. Some of you may be interested in participating. If so, you might be able to help educate the group on the merits of various technical options. I warn you that this program is assembled not by the transnational IEEE but by IEEE-USA, a unit of IEEE concentrating only on the United States. Roger
