[802.19] Ukraine: lower 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi; upper 6 GHz band for IMT

Dear 802.18 participants,
cc. 802.11, 802.15, 802.19 participants,

On 13 August 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 976, approving amendments to the Plan for the Allocation and Use of Radio Frequency Spectrum in Ukraine.  Of particular note:

5945 MHz to 6425 MHz for Wi-Fi 6: This band opens the door for the full implementation of the modern Wi-Fi 6E standard. For users, this will mean higher speeds, lower latency, and more stable connections, especially in places with a large number of connected devices. Previously, the lack of permission for this band limited the supply of the latest technology to Ukraine, such as routers, laptops, and smartphones with Wi-Fi 6E support.

6425 MHz to 7000 MHz for 4G/5G: From 1 January 2028, this band will be used for IMT mobile communication technologies, which is the foundation for the further development of 4G networks and the full deployment of 5G.

From 1 January 2026, the "exclusivity" of the 5 GHz bands for Broadband Radio Access technology will be eliminated. This means that the spectrum will become available to more operators wishing to provide Wi-Fi services, which will increase competition and improve the quality of service for consumers.
