Firstly, I would like to apologize if you have received
multiple messages. I am aware of some messages that have recently not made it
through some IEEE reflectors and have no idea if this would have been
appropriately forwarded.
This note is to let you know
that I will be requesting the 802.3 Chair for time for a call for interest (CFI)
on "Data Center Ethernet" (name may change) at the March, 2004 Plenary
meeting.
The purpose of the CFI will be to explore adding features to
Ethernet to:
1. Provide lower latency transport
2. Provide ensured
delivery
3. Enable RDMA over Ethernet
etc.
!!! Important !!! It would be inappropriate to have a
reflector thread on this topic at this time. Please do not create response
traffic on the IEEE reflectors.
For reasons of S*AM, I am
not including my email address here. I will be at the Vancouver meeting next
week if you would like information.
