Dear P802.3ds TF participants
David Law, 802.3 WG Chair, requested that our TF respond to the liaison from TIA TR42.11 Request for insight regarding MPO MDIs:
https://www.ieee802.org/3/minutes/mar26/incoming/TIA_TR42p11_Liaison_slide_draft_about_structured_cabling.pdf as many of the subject matter experts for this topic - "the polarity of structured cabling applications using the 2-row MPO MDI" - participate in our .3ds TF. A basic question that we need to answer is if we expect to use 2-row MPO MDI for future projects (we will not use them for .3ds TF). And what mapping options will likely be used if using 2-row MPO MDI.
I will put the IEEE 802.3 liaison response to the TIA TR42.11 request on the agenda for our TF plenary meeting.
Please let me know if you can help with this effort.
I will also reach out to some subject matter experts directly to see if they can lead the effort to generate a liaison response for IEEE 802.3 that the .3ds TF and review next Wednesday.
Thanks
Mabud Choudhury
Chair, IEEE 802.3ds TF
Hi Mabud,
The IEEE 802.3 Working Group has received a request from TIA TR42.11 asking for insight regarding MPO MDIs available at <
https://www.ieee802.org/3/minutes/mar26/incoming/TIA_TR42p11_Liaison_slide_draft_about_structured_cabling.pdf>.
Since this request references 100GBASE-SR10, I imagine the subject matter experts will likely be participating in the IEEE P802.3ds Task Force. As a result, I would like to request that the IEEE P802.3ds Task Force consider the letter and propose a response for consideration at the IEEE 802.3 Closing Plenary meeting.
Thanks, and best regards,
David
