Re: [STDS-802-3-25G] Announcing 25Gb/s Study Group optical ad-hoc

Dear all,

I’ll host 25G optical ad hoc teleconference calls on the following Wednesday mornings, 9 am to 10.30 am Pacific :

August 20th

August 27th

September 3rd

As Mark said, we will be working on developing and reviewing supporting material for a 25Gb/s optical objective, including responses to  the CRS (5 criteria) which supports server interconnect.

I’ll send out Webex and call details for the first of these shortly.

Best wishes

jonathan

Subject: [STDS-802-3-25G] Announcing 25Gb/s Study Group optical ad-hoc

I’d like to announce the formation of another Study-group ad-hoc specifically focused on optics.  I’m appointing Jonathan King as chair of this ad-hoc.

As with the Architecture ad-hoc, the purpose of this ad-hoc is to focus on supporting the study group in it’s goals of developing objectives, creating responses for the CSD (aka 5 Criteria) and PAR. As discussed during the plenary week presentations on the 25GE CFI, the strong consensus has been built around the server interconnect application and this is primarily driven by single-lane copper (cable/backplane) technologies.  Some interest was raised around optical technologies being part of this project.  Since this wasn’t scoped as part of the CFI, this study group ad-hoc is being established to provide the opportunity to build consensus around whether any optical objectives may be proposed  and whether the CSD may be met.

Jonathan King will be sending out meeting notices.

Regards…Mark

Hi,

I’d like to announce the formation of an Architecture ad-hoc to support the 25Gb/s Ethernet study group. Matt Brown from APM has graciously offered to lead this effort and he will be sending out meeting announcements shortly.

We will be using the 25Gb/s Study group reflector for all communication so if you have not already joined please do so - instructions are on the 25Gb/s Study Group page http://www.ieee802.org/3/25GSG/index.html

[This email has been copied to the dialog reflector this time in case people haven’t had a chance to join the 25GE reflector yet]

The purpose of the ad-hoc will be to discuss the different areas of work (RS/PCS/FEC/PMDs/AN/EEE) that will fall under the work of the group and make sure we are prepared with content and contributions to be able to make progress in September’s meeting.

I look forward to the discussions at the meetings.

Regards,

Mark
