[802.3_400GPL] P802.3dv PAR Title Correction Before LMSC Submission

Dear Colleagues,

Last week, the 400GPL Study Group approved the draft IEEE P802.3dv PAR generated by the IEEE SA MyProject tool (see: https://www.ieee802.org/3/400GPL/public/project_docs/Draft_P802.3dv_260511.pdf ).  The purpose of this email is to formally notify the group of a critical correction required prior to LMSC pre-submission.

During preparation for submission, our Working Group Chair identified that the PAR PDF contains an incorrect project title.  Specifically, the title currently reads “IEEE Standard for Ethernet Physical Layers and Management Parameters for 400 Gb/s, 800 Gb/s, and 1.6 Tb/s Electrical and Single-Mode Fiber (SMF) Optical Interfaces Based on 400 Gb/s/lane Signaling Amendment:”, which is not compliant with the intended structure. This title in Item 2.1 must be corrected before submission to the LMSC for consideration in July.

Unfortunately, it seems there may be a bug in myProject that resulted in corruption of the IEEE P802.3dv PAR tile, since it reads 'IEEE Standard for Ethernet Physical ... Based on 400 Gb/s/lane Signaling Amendment:'. The 'Amendment:' should be between the 'IEEE Standard for Ethernet' and 'Physical ...'.  The corruption appears to occur when the text 'Amendment:' is overwritten in item 2.1 'Amendment title' of the MyBallot PAR submission form, the text corrupts the project title.  This action is, coincidentally, the same step I performed on Monday when transferring the proposed PAR responses into the MyBallot tool prior to the motion.

The proposed PAR responses presented to the Study Group at the May 2026 interim meeting used the title as shown in slide 3 of the Proposed PAR responses contribution (see:  https://www.ieee802.org/3/400GPL/public/2605/dambrosia_400GPL_01a_2605.pdf#page=3)  I intend to make an editorial correction to the PAR in the MyBallot tool to ensure alignment with the text contained in the proposed PAR responses contribution.

If any participant has concerns regarding this correction, please contact me directly no later than 22 May 2026, 12:00 noon Pacific Time.

With regards,
-Kent
