[802.3_B400G] IEEE P802.3dj Task Force Review

All

Given the size of the document and the amount of new technical specifications being developed for the first time within IEEE P802.3dj D1.0, the initial Task Force review will be different from prior Task Force reviews.  In the interest of full transparency, the leadership wants the Task Force to understand how the initial Task Force review of D1.0 will proceed.

Please take a moment to review the following-

·       The initial Task Force Review will be 21 days.  The scope of the review will be left open for multiple drafts (anticipate at this time at least for D1.0 – D1.2).  The scope of the review will begin to tighten at later point as determined by leadership.

·       Supporting presentations for IEEE P802.3dj D1.0 will be heard at the IEEE 802.3 May 2024 Interim meeting.  Comment resolution of comments submitted against D1.0 may start at the May 2024 Interim and an additional two weeks of teleconference calls (3-6 June and 10-13 June 2024) have been scheduled for comment consideration.

·       All submitted technical comments may not be considered with D1.0.

·       The priority for comments will be determined by the Task Force Leadership and Editorial Team.  First priority will be given to “Big Ticket” items, which will be followed up with consideration of other comments that may be dependent upon resolution of “Big Ticket” items.

·       Formal submission of editorial comments is discouraged.  Any editorial comments that are formally submitted during the Task Force review will be addressed at the discretion of the editorial team.

·       Individuals wishing to submit editorial comments informally may do so by submitting a marked-up pdf document to mbrown8023@xxxxxxxxx).  Please note that these comments will not be tracked.

·       The Task Force Review process will be reviewed with each draft recirculation and may be modified as deemed necessary by the Task Force leadership.

The IEEE P802.3dj Leadership / Editorial Team is committed to the success of this project, however, we will appreciate the patience of the Task Force as we move forward.

I want to stress that this project needs to be a TEAM effort – with that TEAM being the entire Task Force.

Looking forward to this journey!

Congratulations to all on this step forward!

John D’Ambrosia

Chair, IEEE P802.3dj Force
