[802.3_ISAAC] Question on Baseline Text Proposal for TDD Based 802.3dm PHY

Wei, Ahmad, and Mehmet,

I have been going through your “Baseline Text Proposal for TDD Based 802.3dm PHY” presentation from New Orleans: https://www.ieee802.org/3/dm/public/0525/Baseline_Text_TDD_051125.pdf

I ran into problems when I tried to understand the “PHYC Control State Diagram” on slide 42 of the presentation. I would greatly appreciate your help in understanding the state diagram.

The first problem I ran into was getting deadlocked with Master in the TRAINING0 state and Slave in the SILENT0 state:

  1. Master will fall directly through the DISABLE_TRANSMITTER and then SILENT0 states, and start transmitting SEND_TS in the TRAINING0 state
  2. Slave will fall directly into the SILENT0 state and start transmitting SEND_Z
  3. Slave has training_active=0, from the DISABLE_TRANSMITTER state, so it will not start training
  4. Slave will wait for loc_rcvr_status0=OK, which will never happen, because it is not training => DEADLOCK

What am I missing in the sequence above?

Ragnar
