At today’s P802.3cx teleconference, the resolutions to a couple of comments were deferred, as described below:
- For comments #135 and #177 (and comments #137 and #181, which are identical but for a different subclause):
- Find a suitable modification of and location for the following statements, which suggest what to do for inter-chip interfaces, where the TX/RX_num_unit_change signals are not available.
- “TX_num_unit_change is not available over physical interfaces such as instantiated xMII or AUI. In order to achieve high accuracy timestamping, it is recommended to avoid AM insertion,
CWM insertion, and Idle insertion/removal in sublayers lower than these interfaces.”
- ”RX_num_unit_change is not available over physical interfaces such as instantiated xMII or AUI. In order to achieve high accuracy timestamping, it is recommended to avoid AM insertion,
