Re: [802.3_OMEGA] 21 May WG motions

Steve,

Sorry for the loss of context.  0520_OMEGA_report.pdf is what I will be presenting from 21 May.  The motions are in that presentation.  The motions are as proposed by Mr. Carlson as requested by Mr. Law.  I don’t think either would have a problem adding the presentation name self reference to motions 2 and 3.  Do I assume that is what you are suggesting?

Subject: [802.3_OMEGA] 21 May WG motions

Colleagues:

To save call time, SG and TF Chairs bringing motions to the floor during the 21 May WG teleconference have been asked to get mover and seconder for motions in advance.  For OMEGA (and the other three SGs), we will likely have 3 motions for each project.  I can be the mover on each of the motions, or another 802.3 voting member can make or second any of the motions.  If you are: 1) an 802.3 voter (http://www.ieee802.org/3/minutes/may20/0520_voters.pdf), 2) will be on the 21 May WG call, and 3) want to be the mover or seconder on any of the below motions please let me know:

1.  Move that the IEEE 802.3 Working Group approve the IEEE P802.3cz objectives, as per slides 4 through 6 of 0520_OMEGA_report.pdf.

The referenced Objectives slides include a copy of our 28 April SG approved objectives.  Having them on the slides will allow for any changes required during WG consideration.

2.  Approve the proposed IEEE P802.3cz Multi Gigabit Automotive Optical PHYs PAR https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/20/ec-20-0010-01-00EC-ieee-p802-3cz-draft-par-response.pdf with modifications as detailed in Slides 8 through 13 [SES: of what?? - see objectives above].

The referenced PAR slides include a copy of the PAR from the referenced URL.  Having the content on the slides will allow allow us to change mark the text as required by comments from other WGs (our 15 Mar SG teleconference will need to approve any such changes).  It is also possible that change marks will be added during the 21 May WG teleconference — mover and seconder may be asked if any such changes are friendly (to save time).

3.  Approve the modified IEEE P802.3cz Multi Gigabit Automotive Optical PHYs Task Force CSD “Managed Objects”, “Coexistence”, “Broad Market Potential”, “Compatibility”, “Distinct Identity”, “Technical Feasibility”, and “Economic Feasibility” responses, as per https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/20/ec-20-0011-00-00EC-ieee-p802-3cz-draft-csd-response.pdf with modifications as detailed in Slides 15-20 [SES: of what?? - see objectives above].

The referenced CSD slides are editable copies of the CSD slides found at the URL in the motion.  Having the content on the slides will allow us to change mark the text as required by comments from other WGs (our 15 Mar SG teleconference will need to approve any such changes.  It is also possible that change marks will be added during the 21 May WG teleconference — mover and seconder may be asked if any such changes are friendly (to save time). We also should consider making some grammar changes on our own (if another WG doesn’t comment) during our 15 May teleconference.  Personally, I like them the way they are, but to avoid consuming time on the WG teleconference, we could change on our own.

Comments (especially on CSD grammar changes), and mover/seconder welcomed.

SES: I am an 802.3 voter (http://www.ieee802.org/3/minutes/may20/0520_voters.pdf), will be on the 21 May WG call, and could be the mover or seconder on any of the 3 motions.
