Bob –

I applaud the effort - we need to say ‘connection methods’ to what.  Also, required is implied.  Not sure that we need this to be stated, but it is good advertising to 802.3 telling them what the group is up to.

Perhaps

“Specify electrical and mechanical characteristics of the connection interface(s) between the mixing segment (trunk) cabling and the DTE”
