Link security for 802 networks in public environments

Link security features are required for migration of LANs into public network environments. This includes but goes beyond link level encryption. These feature have been an item of discussion within the 802.3ah P2MP subtaskforce. While many people support doing this work within 802.3, straw polls taken at the New Orleans 802.3ah interim security sessions indicate strongest support for this work being the focus of an SEC sponsored Study Group.
