[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE 802.3 NEA "Ethernet for AI" Assessment - Fiber for AI Workshop Agenda



Dear Participants,

As previously announced, the IEEE 802.3 NEA “Ethernet for AI” Assessment will be hosting a  virtual workshop to explore the future of fiber for AI applications with an emphasis on 400 Gb/s signaling and beyond. 

IEEE 802.3 NEA “Ethernet for AI” Assessment – Fiber for AI Workshop

Date: Tues 24 Feb 2026, 9am to 1pm, ET

The agenda for the workshop includes:

·       Introduction – John D’Ambrosia (Futurewei / Huawei), Chair IEEE 802.3 E4AI Assessment

·       “Ethernet Specifications of Optical Channel for Optical PMDs” – Guangcan Mi (Huawei)

·        “Evaluation of hollow-core and multicore fibers” - Jose Castro (Panduit)

·       Fiber Overview for datacenter / CDI Links Vince Ferretti (Corning)

·       “Using MCF and HCF for 1.6TE transmission over single pair fiber” – Guangcan Mi (Huawei)

·       “Analysis of 448Gbps/lane optical signal transmission based on different types of fiber” - Xiaojie Fan (Huawei)

·       “Optical shuffle technologies and their application to AI scaling” - Jose Castro (Panduit)

·       Discussion – Next Steps
