The last item of business was reponding to a letter from the TIA/Tony Bean asking for guidance as to the bandwidth required to support 300 m distance at 850 nm. There was a motion: "Authorize Geoff Thompson to craft a response to Tony Bean's inquiry, stating 220 MHz-km is required to support 300 meters on 62.5 um for 1000BASE-SX." The subgroup worked the issue last night and made their proposed revision of 38.6.12. The group as a whole looked at the result, and made several changes to the subgroup's proposal, to get the appropriate "shalls", to improve the clarity, and correct the spelling.
