RE: Draft Press Release for Ballot
I'm voting yes, but I would like to suggest an additional sentence to
paragraph 3.
"IEEE RPR will provide an efficient non-TDM ring transport for packet based
traffic (e.g. 802.3) without reinventing IEEE's 802.1 (e.g. VLAN tagging)
and IEEE's 802.3 (e.g. port aggregation)."
Maybe the "Ethernet-like" path is not the agreeable way but we should state
the obvious so readers don't see this as just another FDDI or encapsulating
protocol.
My vote is still yes if the sentence does not get accepted;
Luc

Subject: Draft Press Release for Ballot
<< File: 80217_rev3.doc >> People,
here is the draft press release based on all comments
received to Friday Nov 17, 2000 @ 9:02pm EST which is
about 1 week of futzing. No further comments will
be considered at this point.
The vote is to approve the press release and to
forward it to the 802 SEC for ballot and forwarding
to the IEEE marketing office.
I will stop accepting ballots on Friday Nov 24, 2000
@ 9:00pm EST.
If you wish to vote on this you may email the reflector
or to me.
To keep things simple I will accept votes of Yes or No,
I have no idea of how many people are just lurking so
I am interested in those who have a definite opinion.
As I view this as administrative a simple majority of
votes will pass the motion.
cheers,
mike
