If you are referring to getting a C2 value for GFP, I think GFP should use the value that has already been requested for SDL (rfc2823 ?) framing protocol. GFP uses SDL-style framing. The C2 value is used by SONET/SDH framers to maintain their state machine and get to frames through frame hunt/delineation, etc. Once frames are delineated, GFP packets (for example) are extracted and passed to other logic blocks for further processing and any SONET/SDH related processing is not relevant/needed any more. This is similar to what is done for POS, ATM, PDH, etc. GFP by itself wouldn't need a separate C2 value, I feel, as it is a packet inside another framing mechanism. I guess the SDL has two C2 values, for the cases of with and without scrambling.

Who is our T1X1 liaison?
My understanding is that ITU is also getting involve with the GFP as well.
In SONET /SDH there is a payload identifier, C2. We need to reserve a identifier number from T1X1 and ITU.Regards,
