Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBA] Agenda for TGba teleconference on Monday April 3rd 10am ET

I would like to request time on the agenda to discuss the issues with

the WUR Usage Model Document described in the attached email.

Also, could you confirm the duration of this teleconf, please?  17/0258 and

this invitation say 2 hours, but http://www.ieee802.org/11/adminCalendar.html

says 1.5 hours.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello,

I have the following comments on 17/0029r4:

- in Usage Model 1: Smart Home, I suspect the power required to move

the curtains twice a day will vastly exceed that required to run

a STA in legacy PS mode for a day (using a suitable listen interval

and BSS max idle period etc.).  So I don't think this particular part

of the usage model is convincing.  Even the door seems a bit borderline

to me (some kind of energy budget should be done to show that the

energy needed to operate the lock a couple of times a day is

significantly less than that needed to run a STA in legacy PS mode)

- in Usage Model 3: Outdoor Cattle Farms, I don't think it will make a

difference whether the emergency cow rustling signal takes 1 ms or 1 s

to get transmitted.  So I don't think "Delay should be a critical factor

in case of emergency report" is convincing.  I'm similarly unconvinced

by the Quick message/Incoming call notification/sensor alarm aspects

of Usage Model 1: Smart Home

Thanks,

Mark

Hello, Ross and all.
This is Woojin from WILUS.

I also wish to be a part of this group and have some discussions for the development of the document.

Please count me in.

答复: regarding the 802.11ba usage models

Hi Minho and all,

I discussed offline with some people who are interested in the usage model and think it is better to find a more efficient way to finalize the usage model document.

For those who are interested and want to be involved in the usage model document, have some further comments or want to propose some new usage models, you can send me an Email. We can form a usage model group to discuss this. The baseline document is

https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/17/11-17-0029-01-00ba-wur-usage-model-document.pptx

My intention is to try to solve the comments raised during my presentation and through Email before the last session Thursday. And run the motion to approve the initial usage model document draft.

Regards

Ross

Hi Minho,

Thanks for the comments. You can see I also borrow some applications/traffic (video, game etc.) from previous usage model and put them in smart home usage model. I always welcome to add new usage models. You can bring some new usage models depending on your thoughts, and I can further include it in the usage model document after a discussion in the TG.

Thanks

Hi Ross,

Thanks a lot for your initial inputs to 802.11ba usage model.

All your suggested usage models look great, but restricted into the new models with a specific focus only on IoT-dedicated applications.

I think WUR would be big beneficial not only for IoT-dedicated applications but also for advanced power-saving experience in the existing normal Wi-Fi usage models (e.g., service to men, to devices both).

So, how about adding to the usage model document some of the existing usage models which are originally defined in the previous specifications (11n/11ac/11ax, etc.) with a proper modification in terms of power saving enhancement?

Best Regards,

Minho
