Re: [STDS-802-11-TGM] 11me/D2.0 CIDs 3172 and 3173 (what can be modified for BA modification, and whether non-PBAC STAs can do this)

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Task Group M Technical Reflector ---

Re 3172, it has been put to me that one might want to consider allowing

other parameters to be changed.  The BA parameters are:

- timeout

- buffer size

- A-MSDU support setting

- No-Fragmentation setting

- HE Fragmentation setting

- The stuff carried in the (optional) GCR, Multi-band, TCLAS, EDMG, SAR elements

In particular, allowing the buffer size to be renegotiated might

allow for dynamic memory optimisation at the AP (nothing, though

that the buffer size in the ADDBA Req is just a suggestion and the

ADDBA Rsp carries the final answer).

Should the buffer size be allowed to be modified?  If so, do we need

some words to cover the case where the buffer size is less than

the current size (and perhaps leaves some MPDUs "orphaned")?

Thanks,

Mark

Subject: 11me/D2.0 CIDs 3172 and 3173 (what can be modified for BA modification, and whether non-PBAC STAs can do this)

It proposed to ACCEPT the following comments:

3172

9.6.4.1

1538.51

It is not clear what can be modified for an existing BA agreement, apart from the timeout

After the first sentence of the subclause insert the sentence "When Block Ack operation is modified, only the timeout can be changed."

3173

9.6.4.1

1538.51

"ADDBA Request and ADDBA Response frames are used to set up or, if a STA is PBAC, to modify Block
Ack operation" -- it's not clear why a non-PBAC STA shouldn't be allowed to modify BA operation

Delete ", if a STA is PBAC," from the cited text

Please speak up if you have any concerns or comments.

Thanks,

Mark
