RE: stds-802-16-mac: A question on packing MAC Management Messages

Haunchun,

In the last round of comments we realized that this was ambiguous, so teh
next draft should be more clear. If I remember correctly here's the
resolution:

1) All MAC Management messages can be packed.
2) Messages on the Basic Connection cannot be fragmented.
3) Messages on the primary and secondary management connections can be
fragmented (the messages on these control connections are lower QoS and can
be large)

Subject: stds-802-16-mac: A question on packing MAC Management Messages

Hi,

In the TG1 draft standard IEEE P802.16/D3-2001, page 69, Section 6.2.2.3,
Figure 26 suggests that there is only one MAC Management Message per MAC
PDU.

Can anyone tell me if it is allowed to pack multiple MAC Management Messages
using the Packing Subheader? In other words, does an implementation have to
deal with fragmented and packed MAC Management Messages?

Thanks in advance!

Huanchun
